FAQs about helping seniors stay independent
How is this different from senior downsizing?
Senior downsizing assumes the client is moving to a smaller space. Independent-living organizing is for seniors who are staying in their current home and need it adapted for safer, easier daily living. No moving boxes — just thoughtful reorganization in place.
Do you work with occupational therapists or aging-in-place specialists?
Yes, regularly. We often coordinate with OTs who've done home safety assessments, home modification contractors, and aging-in-place care managers. We can implement their recommendations or work alongside them during the setup.
Can you help set up medication management?
Yes. We organize medications into weekly pillbox systems, create a written medication schedule, set up emergency contact sheets, and post visible medical information for first responders. We coordinate with the client's pharmacy when needed but don't handle actual prescriptions or dosing.
What if my parent doesn't want us to change anything?
We go at the client's pace, always. The session is led by the senior, not the adult children. We explain what we're doing, ask permission before relocating anything, and never pressure anyone to part with belongings. Most reluctant clients come around once they see how much easier daily life becomes.
Do you offer ongoing maintenance visits?
Yes. Many families book quarterly or monthly maintenance visits where we reset anything that's drifted, check in on the client, and flag any new accessibility concerns for the family. These are typically 3–4 hour visits.
